After obtaining a BSc Honours degree in 1997, Matthew worked for a national firm of Chartered Surveyors that delivered Survey and Valuation in the residential property sector. He trained as an ISO Quality Assurance Auditor and completed audits on Surveyors and Valuers throughout the country. Matthew completed a RICS accredited Masters (MSc) degree in 2000 and was awarded The Minerva Scholarship for outstanding achievement. Shortly after, he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and was one of the founding Directors of Acorn Surveyors Ltd in 2002.
Matthew undertakes comprehensive Building Survey Reports and other condition surveys on residential dwellings, often dealing with properties suffering from structural movement, dampness, timber decay and other problems. He specialises in substantial, complex, historic and listed properties and has a particular interest in old period buildings and the vernacular architecture of residential properties across the Surrey Hills area.
In addition, Matthew is also a RICS Registered Valuer and undertakes valuations of residential properties across Surrey and West Sussex for private clients or on behalf of The Court. He has now been involved in auditing, quality control and complaint handling processes for Chartered Surveyors for over twenty years.
